Three Modern Furniture Books - Read, Look, Get Inspired

Modern furniture offers a bewildering array of choices for any home or office. Why not look through some books to get some ideas?

By far the best title in modern furniture design books is the “Sourcebook of Modern Furniture” by Jerryll Habegger and Joseph H. Osman. This 788-page book is now in its third edition and lists more than 2000 furniture and lighting pieces. There are more than 1800 photographs. It is considered an essential source for interior designers but it is readily usable by home owners as well.

Another excellent book is “The A-Z of Modern Design” by Bernd Polster, Claudia Neumann, Markus Schuler and Frederick Leven. This book has 350 short essays focusing on particular designers, studios and manufacturers. Each entry has several color photos. You can get great ideas for furniture, lighting, small appliances etc. This book has 539 pages has been called “the most comprehensive guide available to international product design of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The DesignSource series of books is an ideal choice for homeowners. It shows how to work with color, texture, arrangement, materials and finishes to personalize your home.
