Modern Entertainment Centers Add a New Look

Shopping for an entertainment center used to be fairly boring. Most entertainment centers were, after all, square boxes. Sure, each had a spot for a television, and most had shelves for movies or other electronic equipment, but few had any real design to them. They were simply square boxes divided into compartments.

Modern entertainment centers, however, are more than squares. Many of them, in fact are specifically designed to be anything but square. Most are also set up to work with either traditional televisions or flat panels. Some have a more traditional wooden look, while others are made out of glass and metal. No matter which type of modern entertainment center you go with, you’ll find they add a lot to your room.

Many modern entertainment centers are long and rectangular instead of square and have the appearance of a credenza. This is because the new flat panel televisions are often longer across than older televisions. These entertainment centers are usually lower to the ground then the big, boxy ones, and they include many drawers, storage spaces, and open shelving. Some even come with shelves that hang above the television and aren’t connected to the entertainment center at all.

Most of the entertainment centers have a space for the television to sit directly on them, but some feature a raised platform for the television. These are usually even more modern in design than others. Most don’t even feature backs, allowing you to see your walls behind the television and items placed on the shelves.
