Add Charm to Your Kitchen with a Barstool

by Eric on November 26, 2008

Barstools are no more confined to bars only. There is an increasing need and demand for barstools in different venues today such as kitchens, counters, restaurants and bars. The main reason for this increase in the demand for barstools is that they are no longer just simple, hard seats.

The custom designed barstools of today come cushioned, in various designs and styles and give an added charm to any location it is placed in. Different barstools basically come in different seat heights, material and movement. Though they are built for various counter heights, they are usually between 2-3 feet high.

Barstools can be manufactured to move either to the right or left, to remain stationary or to swivel 360 degrees so you would have to choose the type of movement you want in your barstool. Barstools can be made from metal or wood, where the most popular options for wood include oak, cherry and pine.

If you are looking for metal barstools, they are usually made of stainless steel, wrought iron or aluminum. Barstools are usually designed in European or French fashions; but you can also find contemporary ones in chrome retro and in a “fifties” style as well.

Barstools come with or without backs; however, traditionally they come without backs. These barstools come with a simple design, have three to four posts and may or may not be covered by a fabric. The modern designs usually come with backs, and are more often referred to as barstool chairs and not just stools.

The improved designs are more conditioned to the contours of the human body and are more comfortable to sit on. And with the more ergonomic elements found in barstool designs like increased padding and cushioning, tilting and seatback seats, adjustable heights and foot and arm rests, there is increased trend and demand for barstools.

So wherever you intend to have a barstool; be it your billiard room, living room, patio or kitchen, this is a piece of furniture that will make a great addition to the existing room design. Just choose one that matches the existing interior design of the room it is to be placed in.
