One of the rooms many people like to decorate in a modern style is the dining room. Sure, the classic dining room does have its appeal—one pictures a shiny wood table with a collection of straight-backed chairs surrounding it while above it hangs an elegant chandelier. However, modern dining room furniture can look just as elegant while giving your home an entirely different feel.
The modern dining room table has moved away from the traditional glossy wooden table. Some look more like picnic tables, actually. These are often very simple looking dining room tables. They rarely feature leaves or other expanding options, and they’re rarely anything other than rectangles—no curves at the corners or intricate designs around the edges. The legs are either straight supports or cross over each other to form an X at either end.
Other modern dining room tables have glass tops. These give a very unique dining experience and bring a very different look to the room. Don’t be fooled by the glass, either—just like glass coffee tables, it’s very durable. A dropped dish isn’t going to shatter your table, and it will resist scrapes and scratches as well. It’s even easier to clean than a wooden table, too. All you have to do is spray some glass cleaner on it and your table shines!
If you’ve got a bar in your dining room, you’ll find all sorts of interesting bar stools. Gone are the standard round seats with no backs or the bar stools that look like normal chairs. The seats on modern bar stools are often made out of one piece of wood that curves and bends to form the back and seat. Others are fully padded with short backs.
No matter what kind of modern décor you have, you’re sure to find something for the dining room that compliments it, and whatever you find is sure to be exciting and eye-catching.
