Watching Television is not one of my main forms of enjoyment but when I do watch I’m amazed at how much modern furniture, specifically MCM Furniture (mid-century modern furniture) I see. Perhaps it is kind of like buying a car you think no one has but once you buy it you see it everywhere because you are paying attention. The Aluminum Group Management Chair designed by Charles and Ray Eames is one of those chairs. It is amazing to me that this chair was designed in 1958, over 52 years ago, and is still the “go to” chair for Talk Shows, News Anchors, movies, boardrooms and home offices. To name a couple, the Colbert Report has two Eames Aluminum Group chairs in the interview area that are seen almost every show and Brian Williams sits in one every evening for NBC Nightly News.

Lucky for us the Eames Aluminum Group Management Chair was designed so long ago it can now be purchased in a reproduction that is nearly identical to the original but at a fraction of the price. While some reproductions sacrifice quality for price (vinyl instead of real leather among other sacrifices) there is a reproduction that still holds true to the original quality and attention to detail that this chair deserves. That chair is the Management Chair by Alphaville Design which is made of real leather and is available in a black or white color.

Philippe Starck is well known for taking on challenging projects and his Louis Ghost Chair is no exception. Office furniture used to be very boring and very standard.  You’d have a wooden slab of a desk, a standard office chair behind it, and perhaps a worktable or a credenza with a hutch behind you.  Your other option was a curved desk, but those often take up so much room that they’re impractical.  However, contemporary office furniture gives you some unique and different ways to make your office look great while giving you a lot of work room.

When it comes to looking for a desk for your home office, you may find yourself overwhelmed. There are a lot of desks out there, and not all of them are going to work for you. Here are some tips on deciding on the right desk.
