What is a Giclee?

Definition: a printmaking method using a specialized ink-jet printer for photographic images of paintings to produce high-quality reproductions; also written giclee

Example: In giclee, the ink is sprayed on to your choice of media in millions of colors utilizing continuous tone technology, retaining all the fine detail of the original.

Etymology: French `sprayed ink'

These giclees are created with Epson 9600 printers and use only the highest quality inks and canvas to produce them.  In addition, the original works that are made in to giclees are professionally photographed ($40k camera) with a company that specializes in photographing works and creating giclees.  The artist then does the printing in their studio and hand signs each one.  The giclees are the finest prints on actual canvas available.
